John and I are on the hunt for a new TV! Ol' 'gray trusty' just isn't holding up to his name anymore.
Any comments, suggestions, advice would be greatly, no....Awesomely appreciated!

Do we go with LCD or Plasma?
Sony? Panasonic? LG? Vizio? Sanyo?
How big is so big that it overpowers the entire room?
What is a good deal?
Where to buy???? Online or in a store?
Is it worth it to wait until the after Thanksgiving sales?
Are the rebuilt/restored just as good?

Hi this is Huff, Tasha's husband. I thought I would throw in my 2 cents since we went through this same thing 2 yrs ago.
Plasma v LCD, really is based on personal preference. Each has its pros and cons. The BEST thing to do is to go look at as many TV's as you can in different stores. Each store will have different displays and lighting, that's why i suggest looking at as many as you can.
Also, there is no such thing as too big. :-) If you are going to go with something less than 40inches, you don't need to bother with getting 1080p definition. 720p will be much cheaper and you won't be able to tell a difference. Over 40 inches, get 1080p.
When it come to brand, this is another reason why it helps to actually look at the tv's. Some look great when watching tv, but they suck for sports or movies. Every tv is different so, look at all of them. Have the sales staff change the channel so you can see how sports, tv & movies look on each one.
Where to buy: we looked all over. Costco, Sam's Club, Best Buy, etc. We found that prices were almost identical at every store. We ended up buy our tv @ RC Willey, because we got 12 months no interest. Not every place offered that. But shop around and see who has a good deal.
When it was all said and done, Tasha and I bought a 32" Sharp Aquos, and we love it. It was by far the best looking 32" on display at every store. It was a tad more expensive than other tvs, but the picture quality was worth paying a little more. I was not going to watch sports with motion blur!
